For Now…

We’ve been in our new home for just over 2 months and we are loving every second of it. Besides the fact that we get to dream up (and actually execute) different projects around the house, it’s a space that we get to call our own, and that’s been most rewarding. I have come to realize though that there are many spaces which fall into the category of what I’d like to call, “for now.”

Basically my thought process is - “this is something that can’t stay the way it is, but I also don’t have the time or resources to make it what I want it to be…so we’ll do (fill in the blank) for now…” Moving into our new home has given us this fine opportunity to practice this idea of for now, mainly because you can’t tackle everything at once - and that’s okay.

I’m convinced that due to the Pinterest version of our lives, it becomes very difficult to be okay with not having your home as picturesque as you’d like it to be - and believe me, I’m guilty of falling into this alternate reality all too fast. Just about every night I’m pinning ideas of my dream kitchen, master suite, giant closet and perfect garden that goes as far as the eye can see. Then I snap out of it and am rudely awakened to our unfinished floors, half painted dining room, dated kitchen and naked yard. BUT, I’d be remised to say that the potential of it all doesn’t excite me, and that’s why my husband and I love what we do!

We know that good things take time, and that’s why we’re so eager to go on this journey of creating, learning and building our home to have it become a place where we can inspire others and gather with loved ones - even if we are knee deep in the middle of a renovation.

So, without further adieu, let’s have a look at some of these ‘for now’ projects that are beautifying our home without breaking the bank.
